China will ban the import of solid waste such as titanium scrap

    On April 13, 2018, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the Ministry of Commerce, the National Development and Reform Commission, and the General Administration of Customs jointly issued the "Notice on Adjusting the Catalogue of Imported Waste Management", which will scrap metal, waste ships, scrap car parts, and smelting. 16 kinds of solid wastes such as slag and industrial waste plastics were adjusted to be banned from import, and implemented from December 31, 2018; 16 kinds of solid wastes such as titanium waste materials, stainless steel waste materials and wood waste materials were adjusted to be banned. , implemented as of December 31, 2019.

     Restricting and prohibiting the import of solid waste is a major measure for China to implement the new development concept, focus on improving the quality of the ecological environment, and safeguard the national ecological security and the health of the people. The government work report will strengthen the classification and disposal of solid waste and garbage, and prohibit the entry of “foreign garbage” as the key work of this year. In the next step, the Ministry of Eco-Environment will work with relevant departments to ensure that all reform measures are effective, and that “foreign garbage” is strictly prohibited from entering the country.
